Program Overview
The Accelerated Graduate Pathway (AGP): Health Administration program provides outstanding students the opportunity to earn a BS in either Community and Public Health ( BS8095 ) or Health Services Administration ( BS8094 ) while completing coursework towards the Master of Health Administration (MHA) program. Students are eligible to complete up to 15 hours of coursework in the MHA program as an undergraduate with up to 9 semester hours of graduate credit being able to be applied towards completion of the student’s undergraduate program.
Admissions Information
Students in either Community and Public Health or Health Services Administration who have maintained a 3.5 or higher GPA over their last 30 semester hours of coursework, have completed HLTH 2170 and HLTH 3350 , and have documentation of a minimum of 50 hours of volunteer, work, or internship/clinical experience in a healthcare setting are eligible for this program. In addition to these requirements, the student must submit an academic plan for completion of their undergraduate degree (with an advisor’s signature), a letter of recommendation from a faculty member in their undergraduate degree program and a written statement of purpose and goals for completing the MHA program at Ohio University.
A student meeting the above requirements is eligible to apply after completing 75 semester hours of coursework and would be eligible to begin taking graduate level courses once achieving senior status (90 semester hours).

The following courses may be completed prior to earning the bachelor’s degree (up to a maximum of 15 semester hours, with a maximum of 9 hours applying to the student’s undergraduate degree):
- HLTH 6010 - Introduction to the U.S. Health Care Delivery System (3 credit hours)
(Note: HLTH 6010 course must be taken first, as it is a prerequisite for the other MHA courses) - HLTH 6020 - Information Systems for Health Services (3 credit hours)
- HLTH 6030 - Leadership of Health Organizations (3 credit hours)
- HLTH 6040 - Research and Quantitative Methods for Health Service (3 credit hours)
- HLTH 6080 - Health Policy (3 credit hours)
- HLTH 6100 - Evaluation and Quality Improvement in Health Care (3 credit hours)
- HLTH 6210 - Health Care Finance (3 credit hours)
- HLTH 6280 - Health Law (3 credit hours)
- HLTH 6300 - Epidemiology in Health Administration (3 credit hours)
- HLTH 6350 - Human Resources Leadership in Health Care (3 credit hours)
- HLTH 6480 - Ethical Issues in Health Care (3 credit hours)
Opportunities Upon Graduation
Graduates are prepared for further study or for careers in healthcare, public health, schools, the food industry, government, academia, or the green economy. Graduates receive classroom and experiential opportunities solving problems that employer’s value. Being situated in rural Appalachia, students are well prepared for opportunities to serve underserved groups and those living in rural areas.
