Viewing Inactive Student Information in Canvas

Description

Students are marked as inactive in Canvas when they drop a course after the add/drop date or they withdraw from a course. Inactive students are automatically hidden in Canvas courses but the necessary information for providing a Withdraw Pass (WP) or Withdraw Fail (WF) can be found.

Solution 

Viewing Inactive Students in the Gradebook

1. Log in to Canvas at canvas.ohio.edu
2. Navigate to your course
3. In the Course navigation menu, select the Gradessection
4. Select the three dots next to the Student Name column
5. In the drop down list, select  Inactive Enrollments
6. Once selected, your gradebook will display inactive students with the gray "inactive" indicator next to their name

Viewing Last Login Date

1. Log in to Canvas at canvas.ohio.edu
2. Navigate to your course
3. In the Course navigation menu, select the Peoplesection
4. Scroll through the list of enrollments to find the student with the Inactive identifier, and select their name
5. On the side panel, you can view the last login date
