Collaborations in Canvas

Summary

Collaborations allow multiple users to work together on the same document at the same time. You can collaborate in Canvas using Microsoft Word, Excel, or PowerPoint files.

Body

Description

Collaborations allow multiple users to work together on the same document at the same time. Collaborative documents are saved in real-time, meaning a change made by any of its users is immediately visible to everyone. You can collaborate in Canvas using Microsoft Word, Excel, or PowerPoint files.

Both instructors and students can create collaborative documents in Canvas and share those with other students or student groups in the course.

Please note:

  • Currently, Collaborations are functional only at the course level. If you have students assigned to groups, they will not be able to use the Collaborations feature from within their group homepage.
  • Cookies must be enabled in your web browser for Collaborations to function.
  • Instructors will see all collaborations in the course, regardless of who created them or who they have been shared with.
