The OHIO University Alumni Association is proud to announce the selection of four new members to its Board of Directors. Bobcat alumni Anthony Webb, BS ’76; Jeff Lenihan, BSJ ’83, MSA ’84; Ron Minto, BS ’98; and LaWanna McKinley White, BSEd ’65, were all appointed to the board in July.
“We’re honored to welcome these inspiring graduates to the Ohio University Alumni Association Board,” said Jennifer Shutt Bowie, BSJ ’94, MS ’99, interim associate vice president of alumni relations and executive director of the OUAA. “The Board endeavors to represent all of OHIO’s alumni. Each of these individuals bring unique experiences and diverse viewpoints to the group. They also stand as examples for tomorrow’s graduates, demonstrating career success, community impact, and personal achievement. We welcome them in their continuing commitment to Ohio University and its students.”
As the official organization representing Bobcats from across the world, the Ohio University Alumni Association aims to connect, inform and serve the University's diverse alumni and friends in support of the University's mission and vision. Composed of 25 OHIO graduates from many different backgrounds, the Ohio University Alumni Association Board represents the diversity of more than 275,000 Bobcats worldwide.
Meet the Board
Anthony Webb, BS ’76
Webb is a consulting school psychologist in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he provides psychological services for both charter and local school districts throughout the metro area. His primary focus is to both counsel and assist students to help resolve their learning and behavior problems.
Graduating from OHIO in 1976 with a B.S. in communication, Webb has been a dedicated Bobcat ever since. Five years ago, he helped create the OHIO ’70s Group, which was created by five Ohio University alumni with the goal of meeting in Cleveland each June. What started as a small group gathering has since exploded into an annual weekend celebration of African American Bobcat alumni. The first gathering in 2017 welcomed 120 people, and this past year, 200 people gathered. The group’s Facebook page has over 430 members from across the country.
In addition to his work in school psychology, Webb has taught as an adjunct psychology professor at Delaware Community College, the Art Institute of Philadelphia, and Arcadia University.
He has resided in Philadelphia for the past 34 years.
Jeff Lenihan BSJ ’83, MSA ’84
Lenihan has spent the bulk of his career in asset management, where he has worked for several high-profile firms such as RBC Dain Rauscher, Dreyfus, Mainstay, and Blackrock before retiring in 2020.
Lenihan graduated from OHIO in 1983 with a B.S. in journalism and a master’s degree in sports administration in 1984. After graduation, Lenihan worked as a journalist for 15 years covering sports, politics, and business before transitioning his career into finance.
Since retirement, Lenihan returned to Athens and lives with his wife and three dogs. He currently works with OHIO’s Sports Administration program, where he and his wife created an endowed scholarship.
He is also the president of the Board of Pause4Paws and is a board member of Concerts for Hope.
Ron Minto, BS ’98
Minto works as Sales Engineering Leader for Rubrik, Inc., a data security company. He and his wife Sarah also own the small business Dogtopia of Columbus – Downtown, which was voted Columbus’s Best Doggie Daycare by readers of 614 Magazine for the past two years running. Minto is also an Amazon Web Services Certified Solutions Architect Associate.
Graduating from OHIO in 1998 with a B.S. in communication from the J. Warren McClure School of Emerging Communication Technologies, Minto has remained an active Bobcat ever since. As of 2014, Minto has been serving as president to the advisory board that oversees his former school. Minto has been a member of the McClure School Board since 2005. Moreover, he is the founding donor for the Student Senate Leadership Fund and the McClure School Innovation Fund. He also served on The Promise Lives campaign committee for the Division of Student Affairs.
Minto lives in Powell with his wife and three children.
LaWanna McKinley White, BSEd ’65
Having graduated in 1965 with a degree in education, White spent 33 years working in the Cleveland Municipal School District. Five of those years were spent in the classroom and the other 28 as an administrator in science education and federal education programs in the district’s central office. Throughout her career, she helped develop new opportunities for students, teachers, parents, and principals to enhance their real-world knowledge and skills – all things she attributes to her time as an OHIO student in the 1960s.
White was a trailblazer during her time at OHIO as the first president of OHIO’s first Black sorority, Delta Sigma Theta.
In 2010, inspired by then-OHIO President Roderick J. McDavis, BSEd '70, who also attended OHIO in the 1960s, White and a group of fellow ’60s alumni created the Ebony Bobcat Network, where White served as the organization’s first president. The primary focus of the organization was to support an endowed scholarship for the Urban Scholars program. Today, the Ebony Bobcat Network has affiliates in Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati/Dayton, Washington, D.C., and Akron/Canton. She is currently president emeritus of the Ebony Bobcat Network’s National Board.
Furthermore, she is a member of the OU Women’s Club and sits on the Board of Directors of Cleveland’s Ensemble Theater, which is led by OHIO alumni.
