Ohio University undergraduate online enrollment increases nearly 14 percent

Ohio University’s portfolio of fully online programs saw substantial enrollment growth from fall 2023 to fall 2024, driven by the launch of new programs and double-digit increases in the number of incoming students in several undergraduate and graduate online programs. Ohio University’s total enrollment for fall 2024 grew by more than 4 percent.

Online undergraduate student enrollment increased by nearly 14 percent. The University’s No. 1 ranked RN to BSN program , which was one of the first of its kind in the state, has enrolled 7.5 percent more new students in fall 2024, with two starts remaining in the semester. New student enrollment in Ohio’s non-nursing online undergraduate programs grew more than 53 percent. Several programs saw enrollment increases, including OHIO’s top-ranked online undergraduate psychology degree , as well as fully online programs in the areas of business, project management, and interior architecture. 

“Over the last two years we have revised and expanded our portfolio of undergraduate online programs and invested in expanded support services for online students University-wide,” said Kari Lehman, vice provost for OHIO Online. “We have a strong set of programs that align with areas that are experiencing job growth in the marketplace, and I appreciate the work of faculty and staff to ensure our programs and our services meet the needs of employers and students.” 

OHIO Online also saw significant growth in select graduate programs. Online graduate nursing enrollment was up approximately 21 percent overall thanks to growth in the Doctor of Nursing Practice Program , the introduction of a new DNP in nurse anesthesia, and growth in the number of incoming students to the Master of Science in Nursing. New student enrollments for the online Master of Business Administration and the Professional MBA grew 14 percent. The University also saw record enrollment this fall in its online Master of Social Work program with a total of 225 students enrolled.
