What is Integrated Social Studies?
Regardless of the college of the university from which you graduate, if you wish to be licensed through Ohio University to teach integrated social studies, you must complete the following program and earn passing scores on the Praxis II exams.
Some students choose to double major in both Psychology and Integrated Social Studies as the subject matter of the two majors complement each other well. The Psychology major provides students with an in-depth understanding of human thought and behavior, and the Integrated Social Studies major prepares students to teach topics in areas such as history, economics, political science, and cultural studies to students in grades 7 through 12.
The Integrated Social Studies program prepares students for a two-year provisional license that qualifies students to teach integrated social studies in grades 7-12 inclusive. The Integrated Social Studies program prepares candidates to teach all areas of social studies in grades 7-12. The program of study includes courses in history, economics, geography, and political science.
The purpose of this double major is to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of psychology while preparing students for a two-year provisional license to teach integrated social studies in grades 7-12 inclusive.
