Research
Experimental condensed matter physics, surface physics. The research in my group is focused on investigating the geometrical, electronic, and magnetic structure of surfaces and thin films, including metals and semiconductors. As the main experimental approach, we use molecular beam epitaxial growth combined with scanning tunneling microscopy, all done in-situ. We have great interest in nanomagnetism and spin structure in systems such as magnetic monolayers on gallium nitride surfaces and thin transition metal nitride layers. A growing emphasis is on the use of spin-polarized scanning tunneling microscopy to obtain ultimate magnetic/spin resolution for magnetic/spintronic surfaces.
