As we continue to navigate through the new normal of the pandemic, here are some reminders about using Shred-It.
Contract Extension:
OHIO’s confidential shredding agreement through Shred-It has been extended through June 30, 2021. This new agreement, effective July 1, 2020, will have an increase in price of 2% per pickup and a 7.5% recycling surcharge for University customers. As the cost of doing business continues to rise, the OHIO Purchasing department continues to work with vendors to negotiate the best possible prices for our campus community.
Scheduled Pickup:
Since March, Shred-It has been operating on an appointment only basis for pick up with all university customers. This arrangement has been extended through September 30th due to the large number of buildings that remain closed and the volume of employees that will continue to work remotely during this period. If your department is in need of a pickup appointment or would like to resume regularly scheduled pickups, please reach out to our dedicated Shred-It representative, Michelle Caudill, michelle.caudill@stericycle.com . Be sure to reference your purchase order number and location of pickup when contacting Michelle.
Object Code Reminder:
In reviewing purchase orders for confidential shredding through Shred-It the Finance department has seen a wide variety of object codes being used. It is important that all related expenses are categorized together using the same object code. Using the correct object code will make University reporting accurate and help to negotiate better prices for the University through our level of spend.
When selecting an object code for your Shred-It purchase orders please select 734500 – Waste Collection/Removal. This object code has been identified as the most accurate to identify the services that are taking place.
