Ohio University Libraries is excited to welcome back the OHIO community with its annual Camp Alden . During Welcome Week, Alden Library will be hosting an abundance of free activities to get new and current students familiar with the Libraries. On Wednesday, Aug. 28 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., join us outside the fourth floor at Wolfe Garden with lawn games and through the seven floors with a scavenger hunt.
The usual button-making station, mini golf, cornhole and s’mores will be present as well as the Athens County Public Library will join the activities with its bookmobile. OHIO’s Outdoor Pursuits, the adventure recreation and education program, will be a newly added part to the event, as they bring some of their equipment to show what's available to rent through their program.
For those that may have been before or aren’t first year students, fear not! Camp Alden is open to everyone and has some other new additions. The scavenger hunt is back with original clues, new locations, and different prizes.
This will be Kelly Roder’s , events and exhibits coordinator, first-ever time hosting Camp Alden. Roder recently joined the Libraries’ staff and has been excited to put on a beloved event as her first at OHIO. She mentioned in an email that she wants both new and returning students to get the chance to know more about everything the Libraries can provide, on top of learning about other on and off-campus resources.
“I would love to see lots of students here, learning about everything the Libraries can do for them throughout the year,” Roder wrote. “We're excited to meet new students and welcome back returning students, and we hope everyone will join us for the evening!”
Make sure to stop by Camp Alden on Wednesday, Aug. 28 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. outside of Alden Library’s fourth floor. For more information, or to request accessibility accommodations for this event, please contact Kelly Roder.
