Ohio University offers a Museum Studies Certificate through the School of Art + Design. Intended for students interested in pursuing a career in museums or an advanced museum degree program, the program is open to undergraduate and graduate applicants of all majors, currently enrolled in a degree program at Ohio University.
Professional staff members of the Kennedy Museum of Art teach two core courses, Museum Fundamentals I and II. Primary museum concepts are introduced in Museum Fundamentals I, which is offered in the fall semester. Having successfully completed Museum Fundamentals I, students may enroll in Museum Fundamentals II, which is a practicum course offered during the spring semester.
To apply students are required to: have a junior, senior or graduate standing, submit a completed application and letter of recommendation from a faculty member. Space is limited and the program is competitive so acceptance is not guaranteed.
