BobcaThon — Ohio University’s yearlong student-run fundraiser for the Ronald McDonald House of Central Ohio — is hosting its annual Dads Weekend Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, Nov. 5, from 10 a.m.- 1 p.m. in the Walter Hall Rotunda.
Tickets for the event are $10. They can be purchased at the door or in advance online .
All proceeds will benefit the Ronald McDonald House of Central Ohio, an organization that provides a home-away-from-home, meals and other assistance to families with seriously ill children as they receive care at nearby hospitals.
The morning’s events will feature a basket auction in addition to the main attraction: all-you-can-eat pancakes from Chris Cakes . Besides fluffy pancakes, there will be a buffet of all-you-can-eat sausage, bacon and fruit.
“This year, our fundraising goal for the pancake breakfast is $3,500,” junior Gabby Howell, BobcaThon’s director of fundraising events, said. “It’s such an indescribable feeling knowing that we are raising money for a cause that is truly making a difference in the world.”
Every $100 BobcaThon raises helps provide a family with one night of stay at the house. So far, BobcaThon has raised nearly $6,400 of its $100,000 fundraising goal for the 2017-2018 academic year. By attending this event, students and their parents can learn more about the Ronald McDonald House of Central Ohio and its impact on the local community.
“The families who have benefitted from the Ronald McDonald House are very grateful when they see Ohio University students raising money for a cause that has done so much good for them,” senior Haley Jones, BobcaThon’s director of family relations, said, noting that three of these families will be attending the pancake breakfast. “They cannot thank us enough, and they are so overjoyed by how much our organization has grown over the last few years.”
BobcaThon has raised more than $133,000 over the past four years, providing more than 1,300 nights of stay at the Ronald McDonald House for families of children staying in Columbus hospitals.
This year’s fundraising total will be revealed at BobcaThon’s 12-hour dance marathon on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018.
