Ohio University’s employee wellness program, WellWorks, is excited to announce the return of free Wellness Coaching sessions available to University employees on a first-come, first-served basis.
“In the hustle of daily living, it’s easy to allow health and wellness goals to be placed on the backburner and sometimes we’re unsure about how to make our goals a reality,” said Student Health Coach Jessica Barragan. “Wellness Coaching is being offered because we want to help our employees get started, or get back on track, with their health.”
The free Wellness Coaching sessions are designed to provide opportunities for participants to gain awareness regarding their capacity to create the balanced life they desire, now and into the future. These personalized one-on-one sessions are intended to help employees discover where and why they may be struggling and help determine exactly what solutions may work best for their unique situation.
The Student Health Coach will engage in an initial 30-minute exploratory session with each participant to help uncover tangible wellness goals and then discuss resources available to help participants implement small changes at a comfortable pace. Wellness Coaches take a positive approach to personal development, focusing on strengths and using motivational interviewing and "SMART" goal setting to generate goals that are meaningful for participants.
“We know that there is not a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach when it comes to your health, that's why we are here to help you on your journey. Together, we’ll identify how you can make small changes that will generate significant results in the long-run,” said Barragan.
“I’m excited about the skills that our Wellness Coach, Jessica, brings to this program,” said WellWorks Engagement and Marketing Coordinator, Annie Laurie Cadmus. “She has relevant education and experiences and is truly passionate about preventative health and wellness. It’s clear that she believes overall health is holistic, beyond diet and fitness.”
Employees are invited to schedule their free 30-minute initial Wellness Coaching session by calling the WellWorks front desk at 740.593.2093. Sessions will start on Monday, March 19, and end on Friday, May 4. Appointments, facilitated in Grover Center, are available on Mondays and Wednesdays between 4:30 and 5:30 p.m. and Tuesdays and Thursdays between noon and 1:30 p.m. Appointment follow-ups will consist of email check-ins to help with accountability, or participants can choose in-person follow-up sessions. Participants will also have the opportunity to schedule appointments as they go, providing enough time between sessions to implement goals and ask questions. Spaces are limited, so employees are encouraged to schedule their appointments early.
