Ashley Lewis is a recipient of the Ben Saunders Memorial Scholarship, which is awarded to Ohio University Southern students who are majoring in history.
Succeeding as a mother and a student keeps Ashley Lewis very busy. She has five children, ages 4 through 19, and she is double majoring in history and middle school education (social studies and science) at Ohio University Southern.
Lewis is a recipient of the Ben Saunders Memorial Scholarship, which is awarded to Southern Campus students who are majoring in history. Recipients must maintain a 3.3 GPA and be enrolled full time. The simple online application process was great for Lewis. “I am honored to be selected as a winner of this scholarship,” she said.
The financial benefit of the scholarship has helped to put Lewis’ mind at ease. “This scholarship has helped me to buy books that I may not have been able to afford otherwise; it’s a great relief,” she said.
Cost-effectiveness and low tuition were the key factors in Lewis’ decision to attend Ohio University Southern. “The Proctorville Center is very close to my home, a 20-minute drive.”
It’s safe to say the center is close to her heart as well. Lewis has instilled the importance of an education to her children. Her eldest is currently pursuing a nursing degree at the Southern Campus.
