Textron Aviation, manufacturer of Cessna, Beechcraft, and other leading training aircraft, has named Ohio University as one of just four 2019 Top Hawk schools, awarding the Department of Aviation a Cessna Skyhawk aircraft for the year.
OHIO will receive the factory-new, custom-branded plane – which is the world’s most popular flight trainer – to teach student aviators and display at recruiting events.
“We’re thrilled to be awarded a Top Hawk Cessna 172 for 2019,” said Aviation Business Administrator Steve Owens. “With a complete Garmin G1000 avionics package, our students will be able to learn using some of the latest and best technologies. This is a bonus to being able to fly the venerable Cessna 172 which has set the standard for aviation training.”
Top Hawk partners Textron Aviation with the country’s top aviation schools. Select universities are named Top Hawk schools to promote general aviation and connect future pilots to higher education. Top Hawk aircraft also enable schools to showcase their connection to Textron Aviation’s reputable internship program, and to support discovery flights and learn to fly programs.
