Bobcat Safe, a mobile application that promotes safety resources to Ohio University students, is available for use by students, faculty and staff on the Athens campus.
The app, available in the Apple App Store and on Google Play , offers more than 50 features, including emergency resources, advanced location services, interactive maps, crime reporting and an unlimited number of push notifications for the University’s Athens campus.
The project was an initiative of Student Senate, the Ohio University Police Department, the Office of Information Technology, Student Affairs, Emergency Management, and University Communications and Marketing and launched last school year.
“The Bobcat Safe App can help Ohio University students by connecting them to safety resources and campus support services. We encourage all students to download the Bobcat Safe App and use any resources they may need. Campus safety is incredibly important, and the Bobcat Safe app can help students stay safe,” said Janie Peterson, interim president of the Ohio University Student Senate.
The Bobcat Safe app includes features such as “walk with a friend,” which allows users to have a friend watch them walk home, as well as an emergency chat function.
