Under the working title “Acknowledgment and Reconciliation,” the Division of Diversity and Inclusion solicits volunteer participants to serve on a committee to research the University's relationship to slavery, racial oppression, and Native land dispossession. The committee’s long-term goal is to develop plans and processes for collecting historical data and provide recommendations on how our campus spaces can reflect our core value of diversity and inclusion.
The committee is being led by Dr. Robin Muhammad, Chair of Faculty Senate. The Division of Diversity and Inclusion encourages faculty, staff, and students with expertise and interest in the history of Ohio University and its role in higher education to sign up to be a part of this group. Additionally, members of the OHIO community may nominate persons they believe would be significant contributors to the committee’s work.
Students, faculty, and staff students can sign up or nominate someone for the committee using the online Acknowledgement and Reconciliation Committee Interest Form by Monday, Oct. 12, 2020
