Fulbright , the U.S. State Department’s flagship international exchange program, is celebrating its 75 th anniversary throughout 2021. The anniversary’s theme, “ Impact: 75 Years of Global Actions, Opportunities and Connections ,” highlights the program’s central mission: cross-cultural exchange and ambassadorship through education.
OHIO will kick off its celebration of Fulbright’s 75 th anniversary Monday, April 5 at 12 p.m. with a panel discussion featuring past and present Fulbright Program recipients. Join the event by clicking here . Participants will hear and learn from Fulbright Foreign Student Program recipients (international students who, through Fulbright, study and teach in the United States) and past Fulbright U.S. Student Program alumni (U.S. students who, through Fulbright, study and teach abroad).
This panel discussion coincides with OHIO’s International Week, April 5-9. Learn more about the full slate of events here . Events include a cooking collaboration, dance party, trivia night and additional discussions.
Ohio University has an extensive history with the Fulbright program, celebrating students, teachers and scholars, including 187 Fulbright U.S. Student Program recipients between 1949 and 2020 and 118 Fulbright Foreign Student Program recipients between 2005 and 2020.
Since 1960, 103 individual Ohio University faculty members have researched and taught abroad via Fulbright, with 27 receiving multiple Fulbright grants. A total of 77 international scholars have visited Ohio University to teach and conduct research since 1967.
