Dear OHIO Community,
It is hard to believe that we are coming to the end of another academic year and that the summer is nearly upon us.
It has been a year unlike any other we have ever seen at Ohio University, and I am very proud of how our students, faculty, staff, and alumni have responded.
We had to stay physically apart for much of the year, but we were always together in spirit.
We faced new challenges, but we also found new opportunities.
We had times of uncertainty and concern, but also times of great hope and joy.
And while we worried about our own health and safety, we took steps to help others in our community stay safe and feel supported.
I am grateful to each of you for own unique contributions to our University. Each of you helps to make Ohio University the singular institution it is.
In the coming days, many of you will be taking part in the special commencement ceremonies that will be held in historic and scenic Peden Stadium.
Many of you will be leaving our campuses for summer jobs, internships and new chapters in your lives.
Many of you will continue studying or working at Ohio University, no doubt anxious to see how the “new normal” will continue to evolve.
While no one knows for certain where life’s path will lead us, one thing that you can always be certain of is the encouragement and backing of your Ohio University community. That support has never been more evident than in this last year.
Whether it is writing letters of support to our students and graduates, taking part in events such as Giving Day, cheering on students at online and in-person events, or just taking the time to check in on fellow Bobcats to let them know you care, the members of our community have been extraordinary.
I am honored to be the Ohio University President, and I could not be any prouder to be a Bobcat, now and forever.
I hope that you have a great summer, keep engaging and learning, and Go Bobcats!
All the best,
M. Duane NellisPresident
