The Fall Sustainability Series at the Athena Cinema is in full swing and takes place on select Wednesdays. The series remains free to community members and Ohio University students.
All Athena Cinema staff and patrons are required to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test result (PCR only, within 48 hours). Exceptions will be made for children 12 and under. Masks are required for all patrons, regardless of age. Read more about the Athena Cinema’s policy here .
The series pairs documentary films dealing with environmental issues with talkbacks, panel discussions, and a Q&A with filmmakers. Panels often feature students, faculty, and community activists to give the audience a wide range of perspectives on the topic of the film. Many of the documentaries are critically acclaimed and only available in select locations across the country.
The sustainability series is a collaboration between Athena Cinema, University Libraries and OHIO’s Environmental Studies Program. Sponsors include Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Service, OHIO Honors Program, Honors Tutorial College, Cutlers Scholars, Climate Ambassadors, Office of Sustainability, Southeast Ohio Public Energy Council, Center for Campus and Community Engagement and University College.
The next event in the series takes place Nov. 3 with a showing of The Ants and the Grasshopper . Fantastic Fungi will follow on Nov. 17.
