Dear colleagues,
The Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost seeks nominations of full-time OHIO faculty to serve on the Provost’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Accessibility and Belonging (DEIAB) Faculty Affairs Council.
The mission of the DEIAB Faculty Affairs Council is to cultivate a commitment to recruiting, developing, and retaining diverse faculty through inclusive practices and policies that lead to a welcoming, respectful, supportive, and affirming environment for all faculty. To accomplish this, the DEIAB Faculty Affairs Council will:
- champion a culture of continuous improvement in policies and practices that promote diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and belonging.
- serve in an advisory capacity to Ohio University departments, schools, and offices on diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and belonging regarding faculty matters.
- offer advice and recommendations to Ohio University leadership regarding diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and belonging for faculty affairs priorities, needs, opportunities, and capacity-building.
- explore effective evidence-based practices at other institutions related to faculty recruitment, development, and retention.
The DEIAB Faculty Affairs Council will include 6-12 faculty, who will be asked to serve for a three-year term. Faculty will be asked to meet monthly with the full council and to serve on smaller project teams each year. The total time commitment is expected to be 15-20 hours per year.
