All OHIO students, faculty and staff are invited to join Ohio University’s Information Security Office for Data Security Day . This free, one-day conference will be held on Monday, Oct. 17, 2022, from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. in the Walter Hall Rotunda. Light breakfast and lunch will be served.
Attendees will participate in a variety of seminar-style sessions throughout the day. The conference will feature Rocky Brands Vice President of Information Technology Josh Thomas as the keynote speaker. Thomas’ session will focus on the similarities and differences between information security in the higher education environment and that of a corporate environment.
Other sessions will span a variety of topics including a tabletop exercise that walks attendees through what to do in the event of an incident, how to combat phishing, a panel discussion around different paths to a cybersecurity career, and more. Data Security Day is being held in tandem with Cybersecurity Awareness Month . For 18 years, the President of the United States and Congress have proclaimed October to be Cybersecurity Awareness Month. The OHIO Information Security Office uses Cybersecurity Awareness Month to help students, faculty, and staff protect themselves online as threats to their personal information and University data grow every year.
