Amy Meeks set to retire after more than 33 years at OHIO

The Ohio University community is invited to attend a retirement celebration for Amy Meeks, who will retire on Nov. 30 from her role as executive assistant in the Office of the Vice President for Research and Creative Activity.

Meeks began her employment in the Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine in Parks Hall in 1989. During her more than 33 years of service, she has worked in seven departments and has supported doctors, police officers, department chairs, vice presidents, and deans.

“Amy has been a valuable and central member of the staff team in the Division of Research for the last seven years," David Koonce, interim vice president for research and creative activity., said. "Amy has provided excellent support and steady coordination within the division. She has accomplished everything asked of her and always before a deadline. Without hesitation, she has researched best options, learned new software, and developed techniques on the fly to get the work done. She leaves with a wealth of information about our processes and systems, and it will take us some time to learn all that she has done to keep our operation running. I wish her all the best on the next chapter. Amy – break a leg!”

Meeks is also an OHIO alumna, having earned a B.S. in Journalism from the Scripps College of Communication in 2013 and an M.A. in Organizational Communication in 2016. 

Meeks’ retirement reception is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 30, from 3 to 5 p.m. in Baker University Center’s 1804 Lounge.
