Four Ohio University faculty are currently serving as 2023-2024 Mid-American Conference (MAC) Academic Leadership Development Program (ADLP) Leadership Fellows.
The four 2023-24 MAC ALDP Leadership Fellows representing Ohio University are:
- Sherleena Buchman, Associate Professor, School of Nursing, College of Health Sciences and Professions
- Janet Simon, Associate Professor, School of Applied Health Sciences and Wellness, College of Health Sciences and Professions
- Greg Springer, Professor, Department of Geological Sciences, College of Arts and Sciences
- Yuchun Zhou, Associate Professor, Department of Educational Studies, Patton College of Education
Ohio University collaborates with the other 11 universities in the MAC to participate in the ALDP. The MAC-ALDP identifies, develops, prepares, and advances faculty as academic leaders. It provides an opportunity for up to four OHIO faculty per year to gain knowledge and experience in academic leadership by working closely with select administrators at OHIO and from other universities in the MAC.
“This is our seventh cohort of MAC ALDP Leadership Fellows.” Vice Provost for Faculty Development Katie Hartman said. “Although the program has grown over the years, it has remained focused on providing each Fellow with an opportunity to explore topics in academic leadership and their own goals for future positions.”
Each Leadership Fellow participates in an on-campus program, virtual webinars, and two multi-day workshops at other MAC institutions. The Fellows also plan and implement a university-wide leadership program. The program includes leadership topics hosted/presented by the MAC and conference universities.
“This year’s program has had a great start. We have had opportunities to attend a workshop at the University of Akron and virtual webinars, meet Fellows from other universities, and plan this year’s project. I look forward to supporting them as they explore and set their own leadership goals,” Hartman said.
