Are you interested in supporting student connections, engaging students in the classroom, and framing the course content through an academic program’s lens? For Fall 2024 we are projecting to need instructors for over 254 sections of the UC 1900 Learning Community Seminar.
The Learning Community Program is something that sets OHIO apart and makes the first-year Bobcat experience unique. Over 98% of first-year students are in a learning community.
OHIO's Learning Communities help new students get connected. They provide support during the students' transition from home to Athens and from high school to OHIO. A Learning Community is a group of up to 25 students who take a common set of courses together or share a common experience around their academics.
Learning Communities are developed to connect students by major, or to others who are also exploring their major options. Students take between two and four courses together, along with their Learning Community Seminar. Each Learning Community Seminar is supported by an instructor and a Learning Community leader.
The Instructor Expectation and Teaching Time Preference Form is due March 8. When Instructors are placed, they will receive a Condition of Appointment agreement in April. Instructor Professional Development kicks-off in May.
