The Office of Research and Sponsored Projects (ORSP) and the Grants Accounting office have been diligently testing the proposal and award modules in Cayuse, Ohio University’s new electronic research administration software.
At this time, they have fully tested several of the key processes and will continue to test others in the coming weeks.
Unforeseen roadblocks
Replacing LEO, the decades old homegrown ERA that included data from three different financial systems, has been a significant challenge. The legacy data process was intense and consumed most of the summer. ORSP and the Finance office have deftly navigated dynamic roadblocks to ensure the validity of the legacy data. Once all tests are complete, accurate and relevant legacy data will be available in Cayuse for faculty to access certain of their previous research proposals and grants.
The path forward
In the coming weeks, ORSP will continue to test and validate the legacy data in Cayuse. They will also review and update the routing and approvals systems in Cayuse due to new, more flexible processes that were recently rolled out by Cayuse. With all of these changes, the launch of the Sponsored Projects module is now slated for the latter half of the fall semester.
