(It is worth noting that the vast majority of times that a student reports being unable to access Mylab, it turns out that the student is on anApple computerand is using theSafari web browser. The Safari browser is notoriously uncooperative with MyLab.If you are using an Apple computer, it is strongly recommended that you install theGoogle Chrome web browser, and use that browser when you accessBlackboardandMyLab.)

Initial access to the system involves a few steps.
This web page is an outline of those steps.
You will need an appropriate computer system.
You will need a computer running a cooperative web browser.Google Chromeis known to work well with MyLab. MostApplecomputers run theSafaribrowser by default, and that browser is notoriously uncooperative with the online system. If you have an Apple computer, it is strongly recommended that you install theGoogle Chrome web browser, and use that browser when you accessBlackboardandMyLab.
You will need to configure yourPearsonaccount.
Go to theBlackboardpage for your MATH 1350 course.
In the menu along the left edge of the window should be a menu item called [Digital Course Materials]. Click on this menu item.
A newBlackboardframe will open, titledDigital Course Materialsand containing a single link called [VitalSource Course Dashboard]. Click on this link.
A newBlackboardframe will open, with the words1 Course, 1 Materialacross the top andSurvey of Calculusand an image of our textbook below. Below the textbook image are two links, titled[Read Now]and[Launch Courseware]. These are the links that you will return to, in the future, to either read theeTextversion of our textbook or to enter theMyLabsystem to doHomework, take aQuiz, or take anExam.
Click on either of the the links.
Whichever link you click on is going to take you on a detour to configure yourPearsonaccount. A new frame will open that asks you to enter yourPearsonaccount userid and password.
If you already have aPearsonaccount (maybe from some previous course), enter your login credentials here.
If you do not already have aPearsonaccount, you can follow the prompts to create one.
It will be helpful if your Pearson account has the following two properties
Your name on your Pearson account is in exactly the same form that it appears in the Ohio University system
Your email address for your Pearson account is exactly the same as yourOU email address.
If your Pearson account was not created this way, you can change that information on the account later.
You may be prompted to enter yourOU email address. This is the first letter of your first and last names followed by six digits (You do not choose these six digits: they are assigned to you by Ohio University.) followed by @ohio.edu
A new tab should open with a confirmation of your registration. If you are connected to a printer, it is recommended that you print the page as a receipt. If you are not connected to a printer, then check your email to see if the registration confirmation has arrived at your email inbox. If it has, make note of it, and be sure to print it later.
After you have printed the registration receipt (or checked that you received it in an email), you can click on the button on the registration receipt page that says [Go to My Courses]. You will end up back at the frame (withinBlackboard) that has the two links titled[Read Now]and[Launch Courseware]

You should always go through Blackboard to get to MyLab
If you to to MyLab through Blackboard, you will not be asked for aCourse IDand you will not be asked for anAccess Code.
If you try to go to MyLab directly, not through Blackboard, you will be asked for aCourse IDand anAccess Code. We will not give you the Course ID. That is the wrong way to get to MyLab. (If you don't go to MyLab through Blackboard, your grades will not be available to MATH 1350!!)
