The SX-99 is a four band single conversion general coverage HF receiver with bandspread calibrated for 80 to 10 meters. Circa 1955, the 8 tubes are octal and include a 6SG7 for RF amp with another 6SG7 as the first IF amp and 6SK7 for the second IF amp. Like other Hallicrafters with the "X" in the model name, the SX-99 is equipped with a crystal filter. The S-85
is a similar but cost-reduced version without the crystal filter or S-meter.
