The Ralph and Luci Schey Sales Centre at the Ohio University College of Business is committed to a fostering a culture where members, and our community feel valued and included. As an organization composed of a diverse group of memberships, partners, and various additional stakeholders, we disavow racism and discrimination in any form.

Our DEI Focus:Increase both member engagement and skill-sets through the continuation of proven initiatives and the creation and execution of innovative opportunities through Schey x Diversity. 

Our DEI Mission:To enhance the personal and professional growth and development of all individuals through events, workshops, and additional opportunities that results in the positive impact on the Schey Sales Centre’s overall culture through our commitment to Diversity and Inclusion.

Through our people, programs, policies, and practices we promote, support, and celebrate diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) to better the world of business, professional sales, and personal development. In order to achieve the above, we are committed to the following:

  • Building upon the culture of inclusion fostered by Ohio University, College of Business, and city of Athens Ohio
  • Supporting the professional and personal development of the student-led Diversity and Inclusion committee, Schey membership, and participating community members
  • Providing initiatives that support expanded views of DEI at meaningful levels

All of these efforts are contained within one over-arching plan, the DEI Action Plan.

DEI Action Plan

The Ralph and Luci Schey Sales Centre, at Ohio University’s College of Business, is committed to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in every aspect of our people, programming, and policies. The following initiatives and measurable indicators of success will show how we are living our vision:

  • Maintain and continuously improve a safe and inclusive environment
  • Recruit, develop, and train diverse membership and leadership
  • Provide opportunities for professional and personal growth, service, and collaboration between members, the community, and our partners through continued focus on DEI

Goal 1: Maintain and continuously improve a safe and inclusive environment

1. Communicate clearly, consistently, and boldly the importance of DEI to the Schey Sales Centre's mission.
  • DEI messages occur throughout Academic ear 2020–21
  • Increased Schey x Diversity collateral and brand offerings
  • Enhance the current Schey website to include Schey x Diversity and the commitment to DEI
2. Promote awareness of and participation in DEI-related learning opportunities to all Schey Sales Centre's faculty, staff, and students
  • Increased participation in DEI-related learning and development year over year
  • Increased number of faculty and staff with BUILD and Build our Global Community Certifications
3. Building of an increasingly safer and inclusive culture and environment
  • Utilization of appropriate names and pronouns on digital resources
  • Increased knowledge and awareness of available DEI resources
4. Publicly endorse and implement Schey Sales Centre's DEI plan
  • Presented at New Hire meeting in November
  • Distributed to COB faculty and staff Fall 2021
5. Infuse universal learning design and inclusive teaching practices into class creation and syllabi development
  • Faculty participation in learning and growth opportunities to increase DEI
  • Documented improvements in syllabi and teaching practices
6. Analyze offerings to create best practices and lessons learned in Goal #1

Goal 2: Recruit, develop, and train diverse membership and leadership

2. Institutionalize support via increase funding and clear lines of authority and responsibility
