Bio

Ryan Flugum is an Assistant Professor of Finance at Ohio University's College of Business. Previously, he held faculty positions at the University of Northern Iowa and the University of Tulsa. Dr. Flugum earned his Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Missouri.

Dr. Flugum's research spans corporate finance, institutional investment, and financial markets. He has published in leading academic journals, including the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Journal of Corporate Finance, Financial Management, and the Financial Review. His notable works include studies on stakeholder value, EDGAR search activity, and hedge fund activism. His research has been featured in outlets such as the American Finance Association (AFA), Financial Management Association (FMA), Columbia Law School Blue Sky Blog, Harvard Business Review, and CNN Opinion, and cited by the US Senate and the SEC.

In the classroom, Dr. Flugum teaches a wide range of finance courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels, including Investments, Options and Futures, Fixed Income Analysis, and Intermediate Financial Management. His dedication to teaching has earned him multiple awards, including the UNI College of Business Distinguished Teaching Award.

In his spare time, Ryan enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, playing golf, and enjoying the outdoors
