This website provides details on the history and development of Bartley Herbarium, its significance to our knowledge of Ohio's flora, its new home in the 4th floor Porter Hall annex, taxonomy and flora projects conducted on the Ohio Flora here at Ohio University, and a brief biography of Floyd Bartley. The website also provides details on how to schedule a visit to the herbarium, how to get here, where to stay, and herbarium use policies. To navigate around the website, use the buttons on the left-hand panel.
The associated website for the Appalachian Ohio Herbarium Database Network describes the National Science Foundation- and Ohio University-funded multi-institutional collaboration to establish "Ohio Flora" specimen databases at four educational institutions with herbaria in southeastern Ohio. It provides details on progress of the project at each member institution, features of the database system, and other facets of the broader project. We are finally posting individual databases online and forging linkages for all four databases to create the regional network through a common search access page. Stay tuned. We encourage you to explore these webpages and learn more about our botanical resources at Ohio University, as well as the exciting new voyage on which we have embarked in digitizing specimen information and images to share with the public, and to create the first herbarium database network in Ohio. We hope that you will contact us with your interest and comments, and we look forward to hosting your visit to the Bartley Herbarium.
