Expert Bio

Dr. Ilana Azulay Chertok is a professor and Associate Director of Nursing Research and Scholarship in the School of Nursing. As an international researcher in maternal-infant health, epidemiologist, nurse, and lactation consultant, the primary focus of her research is examining factors influencing maternal-infant health, women’s health, and lactation. She engages in interdisciplinary research in the United States and in the WHO European Region, with a specific focus on culturally diverse populations. She has published in peer-reviewed journals and has presented extensively in international and national forums. Dr. Chertok has served as a mentor to students and health professionals of various disciplines including nursing, medicine, public health, and global health. In her current role, she primarily teaches in the nursing (DNP) and translational biomedical sciences (PhD) doctoral programs.
