Overview of the Festival
The Chaddock + Morrow College of Fine Arts, in collaboration with the Office of the President, Office of the Associate Provost of Global Affairs, Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs, Office of the Vice President for Diversity and Inclusion, Campus Involvement Center, School of Music, School of Dance, College of Osteopathic Medicine, School of Visual Arts + Design, School of Films, and International Students Union, Center for International; Studies, African Studies Program, Master of Applied Arts in Health Program, Arts for Ohio and others are pleased to host the 5 th Global Arts Festival at Ohio University.
This celebration will include an International Symposium on Intersections: Arts and Health (a crucial exploration of the dynamic relationship between these two fields) from April 2-3, 2025. ," 13 th World Music and Dance Concert, Art exhibitions, International fashion shows and films, Masterclasses, and free afternoon and evening concerts. Activities of this festival introduce our students to different ways of conceptualizing the arts and potentially open new avenues of creativity, expression, and aesthetic appreciation. The goal is to present a variety of musical sounds and dance movements from all over the world and thereby expand the creative experiences in addition to helping students understand that many areas of the world have music and dance as sophisticated as their own.
In addition, we aim to celebrate the diversity of our students and the global composition of OU. The festival provides a platform to create more opportunities for intercultural understanding, performance, and appreciation of the performing arts, thereby celebrating the unique diversity at Ohio University.
The Global Festival Arts Festival at Ohio University was started in 2019 by Professor Paschal Yao Younge and Prof. Badu-Younge as an expansion of the World Music and Dance Festival and Concerts organized through the The Chaddock + Morrow College of Fine Arts from 2011 to 2018. The first Global Festival Arts Festival organized in 2019 was supported by the Office of the Vice President for Diversity and Inclusion, Office of Vice Provost for Global Affairs and Center for International Studies, Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs, Performing Arts Series, Multicultural Programs, Campus Involvement Center, School of Music, School of Dance, School of Interdisciplinary Arts, School of Visual Arts and Design, Scripps College of Communication, School of Films, School of Theatre, and Arts for Ohio. Unfortunately, the Second Festival, scheduled for 2020, was postponed because of COVID-19. However, we resumed in 2022, 2023 and 2024.
