Ohio University Libraries is pleased to welcome the hiring of its new events and exhibits coordinator, Kelly Roder.

Roder received her bachelor’s degree in public history from Meredith College and a master's in American history from George Mason University. She also earned a certification in museum exhibit design from Georgetown University.

Roder is responsible for overseeing events and exhibits that occur in the Libraries such as “Camp Alden” and “Finals by Alden.” She also mentioned that she’s always enjoyed planning and event coordinating, and she said in an interview that it was like the “position was written for [her.]”

While the semester has yet to begin, Roder already has goals and plans for the year ahead.

“I'm hoping to use events and exhibits as a way to get people who normally might not think about coming to the Libraries to give us a visit and see what we have to offer.” Roder said.

Chad Boeninger , interim assistant dean for Research and Education Services and head of User Services & business librarian, wrote in an email that Roder has already been heavily involved with planning the usual events for University Libraries and has been collaborating with the Events and Exhibits committee to provide fun and helpful activities for the upcoming school year.

“We are really pleased to have Kelly on board,” Boeninger wrote.  “She brings a great deal of knowledge from working at other libraries and has done planning for significant events and programs in her previous work experience. She has hit the ground running by learning about our organization and meeting with key Library staff and campus partners.”

The Libraries are once more happy to welcome Kelly Roder to OHIO and University Libraries.
