Summary of Work
Academic entrepreneur, strategist, leader and public servant engaged in creating value for Ohioans in and beyond Appalachia. Worked collaboratively to build an applied research and public service institute that grew from four staff to a new public service college launched in 2007. In fiscal year 2023, 125 faculty and professionals work in 15 major programs across business, government and social sectors with 181 partners. The units generated cumulative total of almost $500 million in external and matching investment funds for Appalachian Ohio and the State that leveraged major business (over $5 Billion) and community impacts.
Served as the principal investigator and co-founder for such initiatives as the Ohio Third Frontier Entrepreneurial Signature Program - TechGROWTH Ohio, Whisman Scholar grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission, and the Rural Universities, Voinovich Academy and Ohio University Executive Leadership Institute and Voinovich Center/School appropriations from the Ohio Department of Higher Education formerly the Board of Regents.
