University Requisite: C– or better in ITAL 1110 and WARNING: No credit for this course if taken after the following: ITAL course at 2000 or 3000 level

Course Description

Throughout this course, you will continue learning grammatical structures such as: prepositions, interrogative words, the future tense of regular and irregular verbs, direct object pronouns, negative expressions, past tense, relative pronouns, and reflexive verbs. In addition to learning the above grammatical structures, you will be expanding your vocabulary as well as your reading and comprehension skills.

Lébano, Edoardo. Italian: A Self-Teaching Guide . 2nd ed. New York: John Wiley & Sons, Inc., 2000. [ISBN: 9780471359616]

The textbook includes the reading assignments as well as the practice and review exercises. It is recommended that all the material be thoroughly studied and all the exercises be completed. You should check each answer after you have completed the exercises, using the answer keys that are available in Appendix A of the textbook. Please refer to the Preface and Pronunciation Guide sections at the beginning of the textbook for a full explanation on how to successfully use this textbook.

Nature of the Examination

There will be one supervised examination lasting 3 hours. The examination covers chapters 5 through 8 of the textbook. The exam consists of exercises, dialogues, and readings that are similar to those completed in the textbook as supplemental material. You will not be allowed to use any books or supplemental materials when taking the exam. All necessary materials will be provided to you when you take the exam.
