Kathy Fahl serves as Dean of Students.
Kathy joined the Dean of Students Office as an Assistant Dean of Students in 2018. In this role, she oversaw the development of Bobcat Helping Bobcats, a program supporting students on the Athens campus who are experiencing emergencies that may impact their overall well-being and ability to be successful in college. Since 2020, Kathy served as Associate Dean of Students, chairing the CARE Team and assisting students with their mental health and well-being. She transitioned to the Dean of Students in 2022.
For the past 30 years she has served in various nonprofit and university administrative capacities toward the advancement of social justice through community activism and education. Kathy served as the director of the University of Oklahoma’s Gender + Equality Center for 10 years. She advanced LGBTQ Programs through the creation of the LGBTQ Ally program and other campus events. Additionally, she coordinated the campus gender-based violence advocacy program and started a bystander intervention program for students. Kathy has served on a number of community boards including, PFLAG-Norman, Girl Scouts of Western Oklahoma, NASW-OK, and Mary Abbott Children’s House. Serving her community is a passion.
Kathy is originally from Michigan, earning a B.A. from Michigan State University and an MSW from Wayne State University. After twelve years in the red dirt state of Oklahoma, Kathy returned to the Midwest to be closer to her daughter and join the Bobcat family.
