Zach Meisel, Ph.D.
Meisel’s primary research foci are the origin of the elements and the behavior of matter at extreme densities and low temperatures. He also investigates the structural evolution of nuclei, nuclear reactions for intermediate mass nuclides, and the development of nuclear instrumentation and analysis techniques.
Erin Murphy, Ph.D
Dr. Erin Murphy's research focuses on understanding the regulatory mechanisms governing the expression of genes encoding bacterial virulence determinants. In other words, Murphy's research centralizes around bacterial pathways - investigating how bacteria regulate the expression of specific genes in response to environmental conditions encountered within the human host.
Scott Miller, M.A.
Since joining Ohio University in 1999, Scott Miller has focused on building strong relationships with industry, government, and nonprofit partners to shape and implement programs that elevate and enhance Ohio University’s research and teaching profile. Miller currently serves as the Russ College’s point person on industry attraction at the Russ Research Center in Beavercreek, Ohio, near Dayton.
Jason Trembly, Ph.D.
Jason Trembly joined Ohio University in 2011 after serving as team leader for syngas and CO2 conversion at RTI International’s Energy Technology Unit.
A graduate faculty member in the Departments of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, Trembly currently directs Russ College’s Institute for Sustainable Energy and the Environment.
Carl Brune, Ph.D.
Carl Brune is a professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Ohio University.
Ryan Fogt, Ph.D.
Climatologist Dr. Ryan Fogt investigates the variability and dynamics of large-scale climate in the Southern Hemisphere using observations, atmospheric reanalysis and coupled global climate models.
Douglas Clowe, Ph.D.
Dr. Clowe is an observational cosmologist who proved the existence of dark matter, garnering recognition from Discovery News in 2010 as the eighth most important Discovery of the Decade. A member of Ohio University's Astrophysical Institute, Clowe studies massive clusters of galaxies.
Lawrence Witmer, Ph.D.
Dr. Witmer's vision is "To use the structure of extinct and modern-day animals to interpret evolutionary history, and to share that history with the broader community."
This mission has served him well. Witmer is known the world over for his dinosaur research and discoveries and is frequently called upon to provide source material, expertise and explanation for shows on a variety of television networks and countless print publications and journals.
Kevin Crist, Ph.D.
The Ohio River Valley is home to 42 major coal-fired power plants - a significant source of air pollution that makes the region's air quality the worst in the country. Though prosperous, the coal industry has simultaneously helped create acid rain and smog that critically damage the environment.
Michael Braasch, Ph.D.
Dr. Braasch served many years as the director of the Ohio University Avionics Engineering Center (AEC). The Center, the only one of its kind in the United States, specializes in the research, development and evaluation of electronic navigation, communication and surveillance systems for the aviation industry. Braasch and his colleagues help industry leaders and agencies such as the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) design and test innovative technologies for air and space travel.
