Chad Mourning, Ph.D.
Mourning is an assistant professor of Computer Science at Ohio University. A native of Middleport, Ohio, Mourning received his Ph.D. from Ohio University in 2015. His main research areas include Computer Graphics & Data Visualization, Modeling & Simulation, Augmented & Virtual Reality, Aviation Safety, Cybersecurity, and Machine Learning with applications in Meteorology.
Guy Riefler, Ph.D.
For over 20 years researchers and faculty members at Ohio University have been dedicated to revitalizing creeks and streams decimated by acid mine drainage, a common regional problem in Southeast Ohio due to closed and abandoned coal mines.
Scott Miller, M.A.
Since joining Ohio University in 1999, Scott Miller has focused on building strong relationships with industry, government, and nonprofit partners to shape and implement programs that elevate and enhance Ohio University’s research and teaching profile. Miller currently serves as the Russ College’s point person on industry attraction at the Russ Research Center in Beavercreek, Ohio, near Dayton.
Shad Sargand, Ph.D.
Dr. Shad Sargand is nationally recognized for his expertise in general infrastructure and roadway construction as director of the National Asphalt Laboratory, an indoor pavement test facility house at the Russ College of Engineering and Technology's Ohio Research Institute for Transportation and the Environment (ORITE), where he serves as director.

Michael Braasch, Ph.D.
Dr. Braasch served many years as the director of the Ohio University Avionics Engineering Center (AEC). The Center, the only one of its kind in the United States, specializes in the research, development and evaluation of electronic navigation, communication and surveillance systems for the aviation industry. Braasch and his colleagues help industry leaders and agencies such as the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) design and test innovative technologies for air and space travel.
Deborah McAvoy, Ph.D., P.E.
A traffic safety expert, Dr. Deborah McAvoy looks for ways to reduce crash incidents, save lives and engineer safer roadways through the study of traffic systems, human responses to driving stimuli such as color and traffic safety data gathered with a state-of-the-art driving simulator.
Srdjan Nesic, Ph.D.
Nesic is an Ohio University Distinguished Professor and a Russ Professor of Chemical Engineering in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering in Athens, OH. Since 2002 he has also served as the Director of the Institute for Corrosion and Multiphase Flow Technology at the same university, which is one of the largest research institutions of the kind.
