The Medical and Health Humanities undergraduate certificate provides students with the opportunity to explore the human condition in relation to health, illness, and healing through the lens of the humanities and its methodologies.
With courses from a wide array of humanities disciplines, the certificate curriculum uses their methodologies to investigate the history and culture of medicine; explore embodiment, dis/ability, selfhood, and community; think critically about questions of ethics, power, and inclusiveness in health care; prepare aspiring professionals in health-related fields to be ethical participants in the health-care arena and empathetic advocates for those they serve; and support students who want to engage health as a field of academic or creative inquiry.

Career Opportunities
This certificate will ensure OHIO graduates remain competitive in relation to their peers in the state and nationally.
For those undergraduates already studying health and medicine, this certificate will ground their learning in the humanities. This grounding is valued by medical schools and health graduate programs, and it is also essential to health and medical practitioners.
For those undergraduates pursuing degrees in the humanities, this certificate will support students in integrating health and medicine into their overall learning, introducing students to careers and job opportunities they may not have discovered elsewhere.
