Elle Whelan is a junior studying Energy Engineering. She chose OU based on her choice of major as it is the only college in the state with Energy Engineering. She hopes to one day help to improve and expand the use of renewable energy. She is passionate about improving the environment and preserving it for future generations.
In the past summers Elle has interned for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and Davis Besse Nuclear Power Plant. These experiences have only furthered her interest in energy and the environment. During her time at OU she has been a part of the sustainability infrastructure hub, Theta Tau Professional Engineering Fraternity, and serves as an executive board member for the Society of Women in Engineering. She is currently working for the Institute of Sustainable Energy and the Environment.
Outside of engineering Elle enjoys spending time outside, rollerblading, and spending quality time with friends and family. Her favorite places at Ohio University are the Ridges and surrounding trails.
