Talia is a senior mechanical engineering student from Akron, Ohio. She became interested in engineering after taking an engineering course at her high school where she learned a lot about computer aided design and speaking to multiple professional engineers working in the field to learn about different opportunities. She knew Ohio University was for her after experiencing the support provided by professors and other university staff members.
Outside of Engineering Ambassadors, Talia is the president of Hillel at Ohio University where she strives to create a welcoming environment for all students. She is also involved in the Society of Women Engineers which has helped provide not only amazing opportunities but also support in all areas of life. Both organizations have aided Talia in growing both professionally and personally.
Over the summer, Talia interned with Advanced Drainage Systems in Columbus, Ohio in their product development department. She learned about many aspects of the water pipe and storage business through hands on experiences. Her projects included physical verification of prediction calculations as well as beginning design processes for a new product. These projects not only allowed Talia to apply knowledge learned in the classroom but also aided in the development of professional and organizational skills.
In her free time Talia enjoys reading in her hammock and hiking with friends.
