My name is Amedee Michel, and I am in the Interior Architecture program at Ohio University. I am from Middletown, Ohio, right in between Cincinnati and Dayton. I first became interested in design at a young age, being surrounded by my dad who is a landscape architect. He always had an eye for design, and it never left my interest as I grew up. I was always fascinated by the home-makeover shows on TV, and from a young age I admired the surrounding architecture everywhere I’d go. I have always thought it was important to show interest and to feel comfortable in the space you are in because it makes for a more proactive life. Along with my major, I also have minors in marketing and studio art. I plan to work with Arhaus Furniture as their Interior Designer at their location in Kansas City, Missouri. I have always had an interest in residential design and would like to start off with that, hopefully continuing into other avenues of my design career.

My thesis project is called UPLIFT, an impatient and outpatient mental healthcare facility. This subject is important to me because people who struggle with mental health should not only have access to great healthcare, therapy, and support, but also useful, inspiring, and beneficial design along their healing journey.
