My name is Nife Oseni, and I am currently studying Interior Architecture at Ohio University while minoring in Business Administration, Studio Art, and obtaining my Project Management Certification. Balancing academics and athletics, I am also on the Bobcats football team as a student-athlete. I am from Chicago, Illinois, but, I was born in Lagos, Nigeria. Being from Chicago, I was always surrounded by tall buildings and beautiful architecture. I believe this is what nurtured my interest in architecture. My interest in this field coupled with my creative curiosity led me to the path of studying Interior Architecture. Ohio University was among one of the universities that were recruiting me to play collegiate football, and after I learned about the Interior Architecture program, I decided it was the best decision, overall for me. Upon graduation, I will be heading back to the city of Chicago to work as an architectural designer for AECOM. My career goal is to transition into a project management role for an architectural, engineering, or construction company.

The topic of my thesis project is to create a safe and vibrant learning environment for minorities who otherwise could not afford higher education. A large population of At-risk youth lack the means to attend college or trade school. It is imperative that every person, irrespective of their background, deserves an equal opportunity to succeed and prosper in life. This includes the establishment of programs such as internships, apprenticeships, and mentorships that offer both education and financial compensation. Moreover, an environment that offers life skills courses is crucial. The overarching goal is to empower these individuals to break free from poverty, learn, earn, and grow. Ultimately fostering a safer and more prosperous community. To actualize this belief, the proposed solution is the Opportunity Center- A comprehensive environment that serves as a multifaceted institution, a fusion of university, trade school, mentorship program, and employment hub. The Opportunity Center aims to provide a haven for at-risk youth and those facing financial barriers, fostering their growth, education, and success within a supportive community.
