Overview

Korean music, media, food and beauty trends have solidified an impressive presence in American popular culture.  South Korea is also a global leader in the technology and automotive industries, home to companies like Samsung, Hyundai, and Kia. This economic and cultural landscape provides the perfect environment for students to explore career opportunities and diverse industries through an international lens. 

Students will spend 10 days in Seoul, South Korea touring local businesses, exploring culturally significant sites, speaking with leaders from internationally influential companies and examining their own values, skills, interests and abilities.

Highlights and Excursions

  • Participate in a K-pop dance class
  • Prepare a traditional Korean meal from scratch and enjoy the food together
  • Visit Gyeongbokgung Palace
  • Enjoy a free day in Seoul 

Good To Know

  • Program travel occurs in August, while the associate coursework is completed during the Fall 2025 semester.
  • Students should expect a moderate level of physical activity (walking) on this program.

Living Arrangements

Students will stay in hotels with 2-3 students per room. Breakfast is included daily along with a Welcome Dinner and Korean cooking class.

Program Dates 

August 15, 2025-August 23, 2025. 

Note: Students will need to depart the U.S. on August 13th or 14th in order to arrive in Seoul on August 15th.

Academics 

Students will earn a total of 2 credit hours.

  • EDCE 2010 Career and Life Planning
  • Optional -1 credit hour XLRN 2100-Building Your Story through Study Abroad (fulfills Bridge: Learning and Doing)

The credit hours on this program are part of your Fall semester course load. You will not incur additional tuition costs for the spring semester if you are taking 12 – 20 (Undergraduate).  

Students taking less or more than a full course load will see their tuition adjusted accordingly.

Eligibility and Requirements 

This program is open to all OHIO undergraduate and graduate students in good academic standing.  

Students who will be on probation at any point during the program for a conduct offense that took place less than a calendar year from the program start date may not study abroad.  Read the entire conduct policy

This program accepts NON-OHIO students. For more information about this process visit the Non-OHIO student page .   

Participants must have a at least a high school diploma or the equivalent (e.g. GED) by the start date of the program to be considered for eligibility.  Students enrolled in College Credit Plus (CC+) are not eligible for study away programs.

Application Requirements

Applicants will be required to submit:

  • A Personal Statement: In no more than 250 words, please explain your interest in the program and what you hope to gain from your experience.
  • 2 Reference's contact information
  • DARs

Entry and Exit Requirements 

U.S. citizens are required to have a valid U.S. passport when traveling outside of the United States. If you plan to study or travel abroad in the next year,   apply for your passport   now.

U.S. citizens  will not  need a visa or other special document to enter the country for the length of this program. Please also note that visa requirements may vary if you plan to stay in the country longer than the program dates or travel to other countries during or after the program. Please familiarize yourself with these recommendations and requirements prior to applying to this program.
