Living Arrangements

Students will live in university accommodations (dorms) or shared flats (apartments) located close to campus.

Program Dates

Actual dates will vary based on host institutions academic calendar, but below are estimated timeframes.

  • Fall Semester: mid September – late December
  • Spring Semester: mid January – late June
  • Academic Year: mid September – late June (not available 2024-25)

This program is offered annually.

Academics

Courses are available in many majors including American studies, computer sciences, development studies, economics, English, geography, history, languages, literature, math, media studies, music, physics, political science, psychology, and social policy.

Swansea modules (courses) are listed as credit points. A typical semester load is 60 credit points (15 OHIO semester credits) and an academic year is 120 credit points (30 OHIO semester credits).  TB1 is equivalent to Fall semester, and TB2 is equivalent to Spring semester.

Courses in Biology, Chemistry, Philosophy, Health Science and Sports Science may have limited availability to Ohio University students.

Cost

The students are responsible for health insurance, administrative fee, and out-of- pocket costs, in addition to tuition for 12-20 credit hours. Below is the student budget worksheet for this program, which outlines these costs.

Items that are not related to the program (i.e., additional entertainment, souvenirs, extra travel, contingency funds) are not included in the cost estimates provided and should be budgeted for separately.

*Note:

  • Non-resident surcharge waived for the credit hours associated with this program.
  • If you are nominated to this program, you will be required to pay a deposit to confirm your participation. The deposit is a down payment on the total costs to be billed by OHIO and is determined by the total cost of the program.

In event of emergency, it is essential that participants have access to contingency funds as the University cannot loan money to participants. Participants need access to resources to cover unanticipated medical or other expenses, such as quarantine housing. While the University does provide international emergency health insurance for students traveling abroad, not all medical care providers overseas accept this in lieu of payment up front. Travelers may need to cover the cost up front and seek reimbursement after the fact. Visit our health and safety webpage for more information on international emergency health insurance for travelers.
