About the Collection

The Lloyd E. Moore (1931–2010) digital collection features the photography of Moore, a southeast Ohio photographer and lawyer who lived in Ironton for over thirty years before retiring to Athens. The physical collection includes more than 14,000 slides and over 3,500 negatives photographed by Moore from the early 1950s to 2003. Content in the digital collection includes images taken by Moore as a United States Marine during the Korean War, selections from his abstract and vernacular photography, and examples from what Moore called “ego” shots, which involved Moore holding a camera at arm’s length and photographing himself with others or objects (pre-cell phone “selfies”).
