Cleveland Aspiring Doctors Precollege Program

The Heritage College’s Aspiring D.O.ctors Precollege Program is a comprehensive, two-year STEM-based pipeline program. This program is for current high school juniors focused on fostering their interest in pursuing careers in science and health care.

Program Goals

  • Increase students' understanding of health/medical careers and stimulate lifelong interest in education (particularly science/math).
  • Broaden students' exposure to science, math, and the college admissions process.
  • Provide students with knowledge, experiences, and tools they need to graduate from high school, apply to college and obtain future employment.
  • Assist students in developing a support system of academic and career mentors and advisors to assist them in career choices.
  • Provide students with close interaction and team-building activities with peers from other high schools (precursor to college experience).
  • Build the pipeline for future physicians and health care workers in Cleveland/Northeast Ohio.

INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine awarded Aspiring D.O.ctors an "Inspiring Programs in STEM Award" for 2018. This award honors colleges and universities that encourage and help students from underrepresented groups to enter the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
