Students Will Engage in Hands-On Learning
- Each DISIRE student will complete an independent research project supervised by a faculty mentor.
- The DISIRE program will consist of the mentored research project, a “Diabetes: From Bench to Bedside” Online Course, weekly seminars and journal clubs, and a group capstone project.
- The final week will include an end of summer research symposium, the “Ohio University Summer Research Symposium” in which each DISIRE student will present a poster of their research project. A few students will be selected to give oral presentations as well.
Activities and Programming
- Students will be engaged in a full-time schedule including working within a research setting typically from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. daily (actual hours will vary depending on project).
- Students will complete a half-day orientation upon arrival.
- Students will need to engage in pre-arrival activities, including online research training modules and a brief online orientation meeting, the week before arrival.
