We are kicking off the new year with some exciting news: Heritage College alumnus Andrew Yuan, D.O., has accepted my invitation to speak at the Heritage College’s 2024 Commencement ceremony on May 11! Read the full announcement here.
Born and raised in Hong Kong, Dr. Yuan arrived in the United States at 10 years old with dreams of becoming a physician. That dream was brought to the brink of extinction following a life-altering accident in which he lost an arm and a leg. As you may have guessed, Dr. Yuan persevered, and ultimately, his physical challenges fueled his pursuit of a career in physiatry. Today, as a prominent osteopathic physiatrist in Fairfield, Connecticut, Dr. Yuan is known for transforming lives as he helps his patients overcome disability.
Last April, I had the privilege of speaking with Dr. Yuan following his lecture and OMM demonstration on our Athens campus. Click below to hear about his journey and his unique approach first-hand.
I have to imagine that Dr. Yuan's message of perseverance in the face of adversity will resonate deeply with our Class of 2024, given the many obstacles they have faced over the past four years. I am beyond excited to mark their graduation from medical school with a Commencement speaker who truly embodies our college's commitment to holistic, compassionate care!
