Our Mission

The mission of the OUHCOM Oncology Student Interest Group (OC) is to support medical students with a career interest in oncology. 

Dues: $10 Annually

Services Provided                   

We aim to connect the OUHCOM student body with faculty of medical oncology, surgical oncology, radiation oncology, and their related fields, especially through shadowing, research opportunities, journal clubs, panelist discussions, community engagement, and fundraising events. The ultimate mission of OC is to support scholarship within the many fields of oncology for the greater good of our patients and society.

Tentative Schedule for 2024-2025

• Speakers (Hem/Onc, Radio/Onc, Peds/Onc)
      ○ How to get started into the field
      ○ Examples of what they do in the field
      ○ Their interests or research in the field
      ○ Surgeries or partners
      ○ How they integrate OMM or other osteopathic practices (if they are DOs)

      ○ Blanket tying/making
      ○ Light the Night Walk
      ○ Make-A-Wish
      ○ Care Packages (Maybe for while receiving treatment)
      ○ Relay for Life
• Recent research/advancements

      ○ OMM for relief of treatment pain
